demo reel

You deserve a collaborator and problem solver.

Production can be a challenge but having the right team is crucial. With every project, you’re balancing both a creative vision and client communication—so you need a partner you can trust: someone who can execute your ideas flawlessly or help you shape new ones. A great DP brings not only a keen eye and a creative mind, but the experience to stay calm, adapt, and deliver when things don’t go according to plan. A good DP can make great images with the right equipment if the situation is right, a great DP can make the situation right.

Over the last 20 years in the industry, I've worked across nearly every format--feature length documentary, PSA, Live National News, magazine style news, YouTube, social media marketing, commercials, long form internal marketing, and more. And here's what I know: A DP is the vital link between imagination and execution. The role demands both artistic instinct and technical mastery--and it's that blend that helps me guide and empower a crew to bring your ideas to life.

The Biggest Little Farm

I was one of 4 DP's on this film, working on location for 2 years of the films 7 year long production. My main task was to film animal life, both farm and wild. Production included traditional shooting as well as drone, time-lapse, IR motion triggered camera traps and scope lens systems. It won several festival awards, the 2018 Critics Choice Award for Best Cinematography in a Documentary and made the Oscar shortlist for the 2018 Best Documentary Academy Award. It played in theaters in the US and internationally before streaming on Netflix.

Bristol Myers Squibb Patient Story: Madeline

One of a series that I've been collaborating with The 5 Stones Group on for BMS over many years. This one was in Puerto Rico, which was beautiful but the winter sun was very strong and contrasty. These projects mean travel to an unknown location and then finding the shots as you go, its very documentary like. We spend a few days with the patient, filming interviews and then some "day in the life" b roll. This kind of project means finding the shot fast and putting as much in the can as possible.

Come Wind - Sleep music video

I still love this song and this video. Come Wind @comewind Instagram is a cool band with a great sound. We shot this in a cold, dark basement level of an abandoned factory in Columbus Ohio. This was a single camera shoot and the fantastic director, Nathan William, wanted a lot of angles to work with. We must have reset and ran through the song at least 50 times. Music videos remain one of my favorite project types. They are creative, collaborative and combine two of my favorite things: music and photography. They've also taught me a lot about what a small team of creatives can accomplish even with a limited budget.
